AI is becoming the interface through which we think, learn, and make decisions. We're exploring a new layer that helps these systems strengthen human cognition rather than quietly substitute for it.

1. 03AI systems +

   The models, assistants, and agents through which more and more of our thinking is mediated. Capable, and capable of quietly doing the work for us.

2. 02 Ery — Cognitive augmentation layer By The Symbiosis Project +

   A thin interaction layer between a person and these systems — surfacing their reasoning, holding selective friction, protecting the moments where cognition is actually built.

   Our first prototype, Ery, will explore this through MCP in compatible AI clients. Longer term, we're training and evaluating cognitive-supporting agent behaviour in synthetic reinforcement-learning environments.

3. 01Human cognition +

   Attention, judgment, learning, agency — capabilities that develop through effortful use and quietly atrophy without it. This is what the layer above exists to preserve.
